A walled old town on a narrow peninsula, with stone-paved streets, churches, Venetian-era walls and gates, and the main square, Narodni trg. It's compact and easy to walk.

A modern instrument built into the waterfront: pipes under white stone steps play soft, random tones as the waves push air through them. It's a favorite place to sit at sunset.

A wide circle of glass panels set into the pavement next to the Sea Organ. It charges with sunlight by day and puts on a colorful light show after dark.

The remains of the Roman forum of Iader, with one tall column still standing, lie beside St. Donatus, a round church from the 9th century and Zadar's best-known landmark. The cathedral bell tower nearby has views over the old town.
